A Message from Pastor Dennis Walker
walker
Pastor Walker is Trinity's contact pastor during our transition.

Having just entered into a new year, we might pause for a moment to consider our calendars down through the centuries. There were at least four (4) calendars in use simultaneously at the time of Jesus' earthly ministry. The Roman rulers of Jesus' time used the "Julian" Calendar, the emperor, Julius Caesar, had developed. It arranged the year by phases of the sun and had the now familiar year of 365/24-hour days.

TLC Book Club

The Trinity Book Club will meet on Wednesday January 11 at 10AM in the Lounge. We plan to discuss "Mornings on Horseback," by David McCullough. The fascinating story of an extraordinary family, a vanished way of life and the unique child who became Theodore Roosevelt.  Bring your suggestions and stories about your reading adventures. We welcome everyone interested in lively conversation stimulated by reading.

Update on Special Winter Coat Drive
coats
As mentioned in last week's newsletter, Social Ministry is asking anyone to donate gently used winter coats and deposit them in the collection bin by the Music Room in a container indicating - Winter Coats - LTLC - for pickup by Vanway / American Training on January 5.

Last Thursday, Dec. 29, George Peterson, a member of Social Ministry who works for Vanway delivered over 30 winter coats to the Lowell Transitional Living Center (LTLC).  These coats were delivered by Vanway even before any coats were collected by Trinity - because Trinity has joined this special program with American Training and Vanway.

George has indicated that he has now been designated by Vanway as one who delivers winter coats as well as picks up winter coats at designated collection points such as Trinity.

George also indicated that even though the current drive for winter coats will reach a milestone on Jan. 5, Trinity members may continue to donate coats after Jan. 5 and these will be picked up and processed.  Donated coats may include children's coats as well as adult coats.  Trinity may then designate other recipients for these coats (LTLC generally wants adult sizes).  Other recipients might include other kitchens like St. Paul's and Table of Plenty that Trinity also sponsors.  Additionally, if Trinity members are aware of any family in need (including any Trinity family), please send an email to George Peterson and Vanway will process these requests according to their guidelines.

Thank you in advance for your support.

TLC Transition
tlc
During our transitional phase Trinity has several layers of support available.

We have an ELCA appointed contact pastor - Dennis Walker - who can assist as needed. Pastor Walker lives in Amherst, MA and can be here at Trinity if needed for pastoral support.

Beth and the Worship and Music committee have arranged for supply pastors to support our weekly worship through the summer.  Some of the pastors on that list are also available for urgent care.

A call to the Church Office 978-256-6300 or an email to our Parish Administrator, Beth Confrancisco, is always a good start.

Of course our congregational executive committee is also available to respond to questions/inquiries.
