A Message from Pastor Dennis Walker
walker
Pastor Walker is Trinity's contact pastor during our transition.

As we in the Christian Church attempt to mediate and prepare for Christmas during Advent, the effort reminds me of working in a car parts factory back in the early 1970s. The factory where I worked (as a temporary) was running 7 days/24 daily all summer long to produce parts for new car models coming in the Fall.

Lo! 'tis the Queen of Light Joyfully Singing
lucia
Clad in her garment white,
Wearing her crown of light,
Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia,

This Saturday, December 10 at 4 PM we invite you to attend a celebration of our Swedish heritage!  Sankta Lucia's "Festival of Lights" will take place in the sanctuary and be followed by a cheery social hour immediately following in the Luther Room. Many, many adults and youth have been working hard to make this year's celebration a night you will remember and help get you in the spirit of the Christmas season!

All are welcome!  Hope to see you Saturday!
~ Sankta Lucia Steering Committee
(Ritva Ojanen, Sue O'Brien, and Tara Zantow)

*  Please note the 1966 Sankta Lucia was Gunilla Sawyer.  Lo Thatcher is standing to the right.

Alternative Giving Fair
fair
All are invited to visit the Alternative Giving Fair this Sunday, December 11th, from 9:30 a.m - 1:30 p.m. and browse more than 50 different giving options that support life-changing projects and programs around the world.  Rethink your Christmas shopping this year, and substitute at least one gift with a gift from the ELCA Good Gifts catalog!

Think about it:
- For the cost of a mug for your favorite teacher, you could cover the cost of health and dental care for a child in an orphanage.
- For the cost of a video game, you could pay a girls's school fees.
- For the cost of a new outfit, you could provide water purification tablets to a village plagued by a natural disaster.

The Fair will also include handmade items by Anneliese Fidler and Ritva Ojanen, as well as other members of the congregation, Fair Trade coffee and hot cocoa, a variety of items from serrv, many breads and other baked goods to purchase as well as brunch and lunch offerings following each service.  ELCA Good Gifts and any remaining serrv items, crafts or baked goods will be available to purchase on December 18th as well.

Christian Education Update

Call Committee Update
call
The Call Committee continues to make progress toward filling the pastoral vacancy.  In November, we had 2 candidates that had come through our analysis of their Rostered Leader Profiles.  We interviewed our 2 candidates via GoToMeeting.com (a Skype-like resource provided by the Synod).  Both candidates, although different, provided insightful answers to our questions.  We decided to advance both candidates to the next round of on-site deeper interviews and observation of them leading worship at a neutral site. Since that time, one of the candidates has accepted a call to another New England Synod congregation.  We have scheduled the remaining candidate, who was our first choice from the online interview, for the next round to be conducted later this month.

"All is Well"
Christmas Cantata Unity Service
cantata
Come join us for a 9:00am Unity service on Sunday, December 18th. This special service will highlight our music program by performing the festive sounds of traditional carols with contemporary Christian seasonal selections. During a time of transition at Trinity it is important we come together to be reminded of the comfort and joy we have in the miracle of grace. Come enjoy the sights and sounds of the Advent season!

Advent Wednesday Nights
advent
Join us for the Wednesday Advent gatherings!  We'll gather at 6:15PM for our pot luck.  Please bring a medium dish to share so there are little to no leftovers. Then at 6:45PM we'll gather up what we brought/clean up whatever needs to be cleaned up and will be in the sanctuary for 7:00PM for Holden Evening Prayer.

This year's theme is "Liberated By God's Grace."   "During this Reformation commemoration year we are boldly proclaiming that human beings are not for sale. This is one of four important and central themes adopted by our global Lutheran community. The over-arching theme is Liberated by God's Grace. The sub-themes are Creation-Not for Sale, Salvation-Not for Sale and Human Beings-Not for Sale.

Attention Seniors!
seniors
Our December 20th Christmas Smorgasbord is coming up soon.  Please be at TLC by 12:00.  Don't forget to bring a gift, $10 or so.  If you have forgotten what you singed up to bring for the smorgasbord, please give Sally a call for a reminder.

It's not too late for TLC seniors to sign up for the party; just give Sally Warren a call at (978) 256-2657.  There will be plenty of food, music, a gift exchange and Christmas cheer.

God Yul,
~ Sally Warren

Generosity Update
generosity
Thank you to those who have been able to provide your Estimated Giving input for next year.  We received a significant input on 20 November (Commitment Sunday) (88 so far.  Anticipate up to 100.).  Everyone's input is needed to help Council plan for next year's mission activities.  If you haven't had the opportunity to provide your input, please do as soon as practical.  As St Paul reminds us "Each of you must give as you have made up your mind . . . And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work."   II Cor 9:7-8

Again, Thank You for your generosity and planning to continue this support.

~ Ed Jonson

TLC Transition
tlc
During our transitional phase Trinity has several layers of support available.

We have an ELCA appointed contact pastor - Dennis Walker - who can assist as needed. Pastor Walker lives in Amherst, MA and can be here at Trinity if needed for pastoral support.

Beth and the Worship and Music committee have arranged for supply pastors to support our weekly worship through the summer.  Some of the pastors on that list are also available for urgent care.

A call to the Church Office 978-256-6300 or an email to our Parish Administrator, Beth Confrancisco, is always a good start.

Of course our congregational executive committee is also available to respond to questions/inquiries.
