Trinity's Values

Vision: Sharing God's gifts, we joyfully serve!

Mission: We will nurture and grow our faith family, centered on Word and sacrament, by exemplifying the love of Christ as we respond to the needs of one another and our world.

Trinity's History

Pulpit Supply
December 4, 2016 - Knute Ogren, Director of Development & Communications at Camp Calumet

December 11, 2016 - Pastor Britta Meiers Carlson,

December 18, 2016 - Pastor Dennis Walker

December 25, 2016 - Pastor Dennis Walker
A Message from Pastor Dennis Walker
Pastor Walker is Trinity's contact pastor during our transition.

During the recent, contentious national Presidential Election this month, one candidate charged that voting might be "rigged." He offered no proof this allegation and when he won the Electoral College Pledged Vote, he made no further such claims.
Advent Wednesday Nights
Tonight starts the Wednesday Advent gatherings!  We'll gather at 6:00PM for our pot luck.  Please bring a medium dish to share so there are little to no leftovers. Then at 6:45PM we'll gather up what we brought/clean up whatever needs to be cleaned up and will be in the sanctuary for 7:00PM for Holden Evening Prayer.

This year's theme is "Liberated By God's Grace."   "During this Reformation commemoration year we are boldly proclaiming that human beings are not for sale. This is one of four important and central themes adopted by our global Lutheran community. The over-arching theme is Liberated by God's Grace. The sub-themes are Creation-Not for Sale, Salvation-Not for Sale and Human Beings-Not for Sale."

Online Advent Devotions
During Advent, it is customary to take a pause and reflect on the impact of the coming Savior.
Trinity offers an online opportunity to reflect on the season. Via our Facebook site, we are following the Lutheran Seminary Daily Advent Devotional - "Savior of the Nations, Come."
As I am able, I will post the daily verse and reflection and we welcome your input to the discussion.
If you would like to download the devotion for your own use, it is available here in Standard and Large Print versions:
We hope you will join in the conversation.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Preparing for Christmas
Advent is the season when we prepare for Christmas.  This Saturday, December 3rd starting at 9 am we will be preparing the Sanctuary.  We will set up and decorate the Chrismons tree.  We will set up the crèche.  If you would like to help, please come.  It is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!

~ Jim Ray

Generosity Update
Thank you to those who have been able to provide your Estimated Giving input for next year.  We received a significant input on 20 November (Commitment Sunday) (77 so far.  Anticipate up to 100.).  Everyone's input is needed to help Council plan for next year's mission activities.  If you haven't had the opportunity to provide your input, please do as soon as practical.  As St Paul reminds us "Each of you must give as you have made up your mind . . . And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work."   II Cor 9:7-8

Again, Thank You for your generosity and planning to continue this support.

~ Ed Jonson

Lunch & Learn
Are you getting out your Christmas decorations now that we are in Advent?  Would you like some "new to you things;" to change your color scheme; or are you down sizing and have extra decorations? Bring them to the Lunch & Learn after the second service on Dec 4th.  Exchange what you have with others.  If your items don't go, take them home or we will take them to Savers.

~ Gail Langner

"All is Well"
Christmas Cantata Unity Service
Come join us for a 9:00am Unity service on Sunday, December 18th. This special service will highlight our music program by performing the festive sounds of traditional carols with contemporary Christian seasonal selections. During a time of transition at Trinity it is important we come together to be reminded of the comfort and joy we have in the miracle of grace. Come enjoy the sights and sounds of the Advent season!

St. Paul's Soup Kitchen
Are you looking for a new volunteer project? We could always use your help! No need to make an ongoing commitment...make a one-time donation, serve as often or as little as your schedule allows, or come just to set-up or clean up if you can't stay for the entire meal. We're flexible and we bet you'll enjoy the ministry!

St. Pauls' Soup Kitchen is a fantastic ministry serving the needs of between 85 to 100+ guests every month. Our next serving is on Tuesday, December 6th.

Here is a grid which includes items that are needed.  Feel free to drop off your items to the church before Tuesday if that's more convenient for you. Label your items for St. Paul's and you can leave them in the refrigerator or freezer in the church kitchen. It's as easy as that!
Thanks for all your help for this wonderful ministry!
Please sign up via Sandy Klapprodt by replying to this email or use the interactive sign-up sheet.
Please drop off donations to Trinity between Sunday and 3PM on Tuesday of the week we will be serving.  If donations are being delivered directly to the soup kitchen, please bring to Eliot Presbyterian Church by 4PM the day of the meal.
We - and all the people who are homeless or needing to stretch their budget - thank you!!!

Christmas is drawing nigh,
. . . Candles are gleaming." Come hear "the Queen of Light joyfully singing!"   **
You are invited to attend Trinity's triennial celebration of our Swedish heritage, The Festival of Sankta Lucia, at four o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in our sanctuary, followed by a cheery social hour immediately following in the Luther Room.  All are welcome!
This special Advent worship and fellowship will delight persons of all ages, and it's a wonderful way to share your faith with your friends and relatives.  Everyone will join our talented youth and adult musicians singing favorite carols by candlelight.  You will be entertained by Janna Olson and Steve Hunker as they share their repertoire of Scandinavian folk music during the coffee hour. Sankta Lucia, her court and the Star Boys will serve a variety of homemade Christmas cookies, such as Pepparkakor to name one, and piping hot beverages (coffee, cider, and tea). It will warm your heart!
Hope to see you all there!!

CCC Adult Forum - Gospel of John Overview
Karen Goltz will conclude our discussion of the four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. This week we will discuss the Gospel according to St. John. We will explore the rich symbolism of John, written about 15 years after Mathew and Luke for Greek-speaking Christians.

~ Richard Grove
TLC Transition
During our transitional phase Trinity has several layers of support available.

We have an ELCA appointed contact pastor - Dennis Walker - who can assist as needed. Pastor Walker lives in Amherst, MA and can be here at Trinity if needed for pastoral support.

Beth and the Worship and Music committee have arranged for supply pastors to support our weekly worship through the summer.  Some of the pastors on that list are also available for urgent care.

A call to the Church Office 978-256-6300 or an email to our Parish Administrator, Beth Confrancisco, is always a good start.
Of course our congregational executive committee is also available to respond to questions/inquiries.
