Trinity's History

Linda Mallinson
Linda Jo (Kramer) Mallinson, born in Holland, Mich., to Adrian Kramer and Dorothy Kouw Kramer, passed away peacefully at age 69 on Sunday, October 2, in Lowell, Mass.
After a childhood spent swimming and fishing in Lake Michigan, Linda graduated from West Ottawa High School in 1965 and attended Western Michigan University. She earned a bachelor's degree in communications and minors in English and music education.
During that time, she met the late Robert C. Mallinson, Jr., of Lansingburgh, NY, and the pair married in 1970 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Later Linda attended SUNY Albany and earned a master's degree in communications/business. Throughout her career, she worked as a music and English teacher, computer instructor, technical writer, and database designer. She loved photographing the natural world and had a lifelong passion for music and singing, directing several choirs over the years. She also loved swimming, fishing, sailing, traveling, knitting, and baking.
Linda was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her only child Erik, 39; her daughter-in-law Alissa; her grandson Bradley, 19; her granddaughter Athena, 4; her sister Mary Skwirut; and her nephew Brian Skwirut.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, October 7, from 5-8pm, at Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, Mass. A memorial service will be held the following day on Saturday, October 8, at 11am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford, Mass. the service will be followed by a lunch at the church. A burial service will take place at a later date at the Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, NY, where Linda will be buried in the Mallinson family plot.

Pastor Ellen Muller
Sunday, October 9th, Pastor Ellen Muller will be Trinity's guest preacher.

As a retired pastor, my husband and I lived in Atkinson, NH, where we were active in the building of the new library.  I painted four murals for the children's room and served as President of the Friends of the Library.  Our hobbies included reading, traveling (42 countries), attending concerts and plays, gardening, etc.  Upon Bill's death five years ago, I downsized and moved to the Huntington at Nashua, a continuing care retirement community of 180 people.  I enjoy classes for seniors at Rivier's RISE program, as well as activities sponsored by the Huntington.  Family continues to be important--I have a son serving as Colonel in the Marine Corps, a daughter who is a physical therapist and four grandchildren, ages 7-14.

A Message from Pastor Dennis Walker
Pastor Walker is Trinity's contact pastor during our transition.

One new skill I've developed in recent years is egg preparation. Many recipes require lots of them. Bashing one egg into another always yields the same result. One egg gets shattered, while the second one emerges intact.
Careful experiments indicate that minute variations influence which egg will collapse. Both eggs don't shatter (as we might guess) because one always loses its solid structure first. Some eggs survive by possessing thicker shells. Finally, the angle of collision (the narrow side to the wide side of an egg, etc.) favors one egg over another.

Wireless Internet Access Change
With a change to our FIOS router, the wireless network name has changed from "Trinity Lutheran Church" to "Trinity-Lutheran-Church."  Please update your wireless device next time you are at Trinity to be sure to maintain an internet connection while at church.  Unfortunately embedded spaces are not allowed in the network name on the new router.  Sorry for any disruption this may cause for you

Attention TLC Seniors!
The Trinity Seniors are invited to an Oktoberfest celebration at the church on October 18, 2016 at noon. There will be German food, German music, a festive atmosphere and a surprise guest! If you have any German attire be sure to wear it.

Please call Sally Warren by October 12 to make your reservation since we will need to contact the caterer if we have more than 25 reservations. We don't want any senior left out of the party.

God's Work Our Hands
Many thanks to all who participated in this service in early September.  Thanks to Kate Conran, we were able to reprise the event last Sunday.  Kate's narrative brought to life the event we shared.  The pictures showed many of the results from cards made to items delivered to EMTs and firemen as well as volunteers perched high in the fire engine.

Kate and Helen Blaschke are due our many thanks for organizing and helping to complete the activities which culminated with the blood drive on last Wednesday.
Thank you all (organizers and participants) for your generosity.

~ Ed Jonson

September 30, 2016
Dear members and friends of Trinity Lutheran!
Thank You!
Calumet's Reach the Beach effort has brought about the most wonderful result. To date, the teams have raised over $84,000 dollars for Calumet! Can you believe it?
There were a huge number of moving parts to this event - this three-day effort. There were logistics related to runners, drivers, luggers, vans, shuttles, sleeping places, payments, fundraising pages, transition details, volunteers and their housing, schedules, minute by minute spreadsheet predictions, Facebook pages, website edits, mail merges, check processing, food preparations, orientations, race rules, community engagement, interviews, connecting people to congregations, congregation prayer partners, parking lot borrowing, late-minute car transport from one parking lot to another, beach plans for the end of the race ... I'm forgetting a whole ton!
You, the members & friends at Trinity, played an important part!
We were so blessed to be able to use your parking lot for our shuttles to Calumet. What a blessing! And it's unbelievable how Trinity's folks came forth on Friday to help get a bunch of cars from the Armenian Church to the Lutheran Church. I've been referring to it as the "Great Car Transport of 2016."
Reach the Beach 2017 will be September 15 & 16. We're counting on (hoping for?) your help again next year! Can you put us on your calendar? God is good! Thank you!

TLC Transition
During our transitional phase Trinity has several layers of support available.

We have an ELCA appointed contact pastor - Dennis Walker - who can assist as needed. Pastor Walker lives in Amherst, MA and can be here at Trinity if needed for pastoral support.

Beth and the Worship and Music committee have arranged for supply pastors to support our weekly worship through the summer.  Some of the pastors on that list are also available for urgent care.

A call to the Church Office 978-256-6300 or an email to our Parish Administrator, Beth Confrancisco, is always a good start.
Of course our congregational executive committee is also available to respond to questions/inquiries.
